Silicon Nitride Hot Surface Igniter

INNOVACERA’s silicon nitride hot surface igniter is a compact ceramic ignition assembly built around a Si₃N₄ heating element. When energized, the element rapidly reaches the high temperature required to ignite combustible gas mixtures without relying on a conventional high voltage spark.

Quote/Order

Si₃N₄ Hot Surface Igniter is designed for AC 90–110V operation with a rated power of 35–60W and a nominal heating temperature of 1200°C. It combines a silicon nitride heating element with a 95% alumina ceramic insulator, SUS304 stainless steel mounting bracket, PFA-insulated lead wires and electrical connectors. The integrated structure is suitable for repeated start-stop cycles and compact burner installations where fast thermal response, thermal-shock resistance, electrical insulation and mechanical strength are required.

Advantages

- Rapid High Temperature Ignition
The Si₃N₄ element provides fast thermal response and a nominal heating temperature of 1200°C for direct hot-surface ignition.
- Defined Electrical Performance
Designed for AC 90–110 V operation with a rated power range of 35–60 W, providing a clear electrical specification for burner integration.
- Stable Temperature Performance
The Si₃N₄ heating element provides stable high-temperature performance across the rated voltage range, supporting reliable ignition under different operating conditions.
- Excellent Thermal Shock Resistance
Silicon nitride is well suited to repeated heating and cooling cycles in burner systems with frequent start-stop operation.
- High Mechanical Strength
The dense Si₃N₄ ceramic heating element provides a robust structure for compact burner assemblies and demanding installation environments.
- Reliable Electrical Insulation
Insulation resistance is ≥50 MΩ under a DC 500 V test between the heating element and bracket, with AC 1500 V / 1 s dielectric withstand capability and leakage current ≤5 mA.
- Compact Integrated Assembly
The heating element, 95% alumina insulator, SUS304 bracket, Ø30 mm elliptic metal flange, lead wires and connector are integrated into a ready-to-install ignition component.

Applications

This Si₃N₄ hot surface igniter is designed for combustion and thermal systems that require high-temperature ignition, compact installation and repeated operating cycles, including:

Application Typical Use

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Switch from Spark Plugs to Si3N4 Hot Surface Igniters? What Advantages Do They Offer at 1200°C?

Traditional high-voltage spark plugs often suffer from electrode carbon fouling, spark gap erosion, and severe electromagnetic interference (EMI). INNOVACERA’s silicon nitride (Si3N4) hot surface igniter operates on AC 90–110V (35–60W) and rapidly achieves a nominal heating temperature of 1200°C to ignite combustible gases directly. Its superior thermal shock resistance and high mechanical strength withstand frequent on-off cycling without thermal fatigue, providing dependable, silent ignition for natural gas appliances and hydrogen-ready combustion burners.

Need Reliable Ignition Assemblies for OEM Burners? How to Custom Silicon Nitride Igniters from INNOVACERA?

INNOVACERA supplies fully integrated ignition assemblies combining a Si3N4 heating element, 95% alumina ceramic insulator, SUS304 bracket (with an elliptic mounting flange), and 250°C-rated PFA lead wires. OEM burner designers can custom cold resistance, operating voltage (nominal 100V), bracket profiles, insertion depths, and terminal connectors to achieve a seamless drop-in fit for gas boilers, industrial furnaces, and fuel cell reforming systems.
